" Without labour, nothing prospers " Sophocles
Combine determination, hard work, skill and a vision and success might well follow. And a sense of achievement that is all embracing and powerful
Gardeners seem to know about this and use it to their advantage. How so? Well, perhaps l can best illustrate this with an allotmenteer buddy, Frank King. I have got to know Frank well over the past few years and amongst other things, we share plots at Lancing Manor allotments in West Sussex, UK - starting out pretty much at the same time there
Frank used his many talents to great effect on his plot. Working with wood, machinery and tools (ably assisted by partner Jenny) plot 114 was turned from a neglected area to one of bounty and produce. Take a close look at the photos arrange in classic "before and after style" and you will see.
Frank and Jenny made time to help me in the early days of my plot too as well as their own. And that is something else that as I begin to work through my Thoughtful Gardening project, I recognise and see more and more; generosity
The new season approaches and no doubt Frank will be keeping us all up to date on plot 114
